Being a camp helper

Chia Hwei is one of the Girl Guides who wants to take Queen's Guide Test to become a Queens.Guide. She asked me to be her helper in one of the camping test, so I agreed. It was a three-days-two-nights-camp.

16 Dec, Thursday (1st day)
I arrived at school at 10am. After putting my stuff in the store room and registered, I went to
the field,which was the camp side and helped them with the tent.

We had fried rice cooked by canteen chef as our lunch.

After lunch, we have Ice Breaking Section, which is to know our group members better. We sat around the canteen tables and started to 'break the ice', but at first everyone was quite shy and we sat silence for some time. Our teacher-in-charge, Miss Ong came to survey us, when she saw us sitting there stiffly, she asked us,
" Have you all done your Ice Breaking?"
Then, one of our members said," Erm... breaking, breaking..."
Only then the silence was shattered by our laughter.
We decided to play a game called 'True or Dare', it was enjoyable.

After finishing Ice Breaking Section, we had Handcrafted Section, learning how to make key chain.

We had mihun as our dinner.

After dinner, we moved some stools to the front of the canteen stalls and sat there in a circle.

The Patrol Leaders taught us some songs and action songs.

Then we had some fun activities, such as Memorize Drawing and Passing Message. The Passing Message part was quite interesting, there were two messages, one of it was something like : "can you can a can like a canner can can a can". The message was passed on one by one towards the last person, and it turn out to be : " can can a container". The Patrol Leaders burst into laughter and can't stop laughing. How could 'can' turn out to be 'container', they wondered. The other message was something like: "I wish to wish the wish you wish to wish, but if you wish the witch wishes, I won't wish the wish you wish to wish". I was the last person, and I managed to say those lines correctly, lucky me~
And then, the Patrol Leaders wrote everyone's names in pieces of papers, then folded them and let us draw. Each person with take one piece of paper that was written with one of the names of the members in the camp, the person we drew will become our 'manito', which is someone we have to care for in the camp, being their 'secret angel', and we should not reveal to anyone until the camp fire night.

The activity lasted until 11pm, time for bath. We took our bath using a bucket full of water and a bathing ladle. The water was freezing cold, I kept shivering as taking my bath. It took me for quite a long time to bathe as I was not used to taking a cold bath especially late at night. It was about 12 midnight when I finished my bath.

We slept in the store room, after laying my sleeping bag, I lay down, closed my eyes, hoping for some sleep and call it a day. Minutes left, I found myself still awaking, I can hardly sleep, so I sat up. Meanwhile, there were three more From 1 girls were also still haven't sleep and kept chatting, so I joined them. At that time, the Patrol Leaders haven't taken their baths and still writing their reports and discussing something. By the time they went into the store room and taking their clothes and towels to go bathing, they found ourselves still enjoyed chatting, they advised us to sleep because the next day we have to wake up early. We took their advise and went to sleep... ZZZZZZ

17 Dec, Friday (2nd day)
I woke up at 6am. After washing myself, the Patrol Leaders do the morning exercise with us by groups.

After that, we had our breakfast, bread with jam and egg. After finished our breakfast, we changed into our uniforms and went to the field to do the Horse Shoe.

Then, we had some games, they named it 'cabaran'. Each Patrol Leaders had to prepare a game for their members, which was their camp helpers. Tian Hong prepared a game which is to throw the ball into a basket which was carried by a person.

After that, the ones taking the Queen's Guide test will be having a cooking test. We helpers help them to prepare the ingredients. Chia Hwei was cooking non-spicy tom yam mihun. Her cooking was excellent!

After diner that night, we had a camp fire. The girl guide seniors went to join us too. We sat around the camp fire, singing and dancing. We also had the manito revealed section, I can't believe that I am Chia Hwei's manito! haha~

17 Dec, Saturday (Last day)
That morning, we cleaned up the camp side. After lunch, we went home.
It was a memorable camp.

Sketch Competition

Last week was English week, our school had organized varies English competition such as Spelling Bee Competition, Boggle Competition, Quiz Competition, and the one I participated in, the Sketch Competition.

This year's Sketch Competition is a bit different from before. Formerly, our school's Sketch Competition is about drama, but this year, it's about advertisement. The ones who took part in the competition including Michelle, Yih Lin, Li Shan, Hooi Yin, Min Yee, Huei Mei, Fumin, Joe Ming, Tian Hong, Kher Nee, Emelyn, Yen Ni, Priscilla and me.

Michelle was the director, Min Yee was the script writer, Tian Hong was the hero, Huei Mei was the heroine, while I was in charge of the piano. We practiced really hard and did our best to win this competition.

Last Friday, the Sketch Competition was held in the school hall. We were the 6th group. When it was our turn, I could see the nervous expression written on everyone's face, I was quite nervous too, but I had to control myself, because if I get nervous, my hands will be sweaty, and if my hands get sweaty, I couldn't play well on the piano.

Finally, our Sketch Competition came to an end, that means it was time to announce the results.
“The First place goes to ……
The Form Fives!”

“The Second place goes to ………………
4S1 !”

Yay! We won! We won! We got the Second place!

Everyone was so exhausted until they just paused right there even when they heard that they were the best in Form Fours…… (or maybe they were too astonished)

Our MC, Renee, asked in doubt,

“Why aren't you all seem happy even you won?”

“We are just a bit tired”, I said with a grin.

Skating in Queensbay Mall

Today, my friends (Yan Ping, Yueng Yeen, Yuan Jie) and I skated in Queensbay Mall.
Because they reached there earlier than I do, so they went inside first.
The moment I reached there, they were just starting to put on their roller skates...
I was just on time to join them!^^

After putting our belongings in the locker, we started to skate into the skating ring.
As I've forgotten some skating technique,
I just went on gently & gently & gently... ...
Yueng Yeen lent me her hand, so I hold on to her tightly...
It was quite smooth at the beginning...
but suddenly I began to lose by balance...
In order not to let Yueng Yeen involve, I let go of her hand...
I slipped and fell...
Ouch!
But lucky for me, I didn't bleed. ^^
Yueng Yeen couldn't stop apologizing and blamming herself for letting me to get hurt.
I kept on telling her that it was all my fault.

People always say, "If you don't fall for once, then u will never improve"
So, I continued to practice my skate...
Soon, I managed to master it.
Hooray!

After skating, we went for dinner in KFC restaurant.
It was finger lickin' good!

与朋友一起去电影院

昨天，我与七位朋友——雁允、彦彬、元洁、美铃、逸凌、Hui Nee & Yu Ling 到Queensbay Mall 去。约好是12:30p.m.在大门见的，不过因为妈有些事，所以12:30p.m.才到那儿的 Food Court 吃午餐。

刚吃完，便有电话打来了……
是雁允，她说她在KFC，我便说我们马上到那边去见她们。
到了那里，看到KFC餐馆外的舞台上正进行着 ‘终级天团’比赛，由Gary(八度空间的主播)主词。
在KFC外见到了逸凌、Yu Ling、雁允和元洁。
不久，彦彬、Hui Nee和美铃也到了。

我们买的戏票在3:40p.m.才开始。
因为时间还早，我们便先去逛一逛。
到了三点，我们便到戏院去。
买了Popcorn后，我们便进入电影院，坐到各自的座位上。

我们看的戏叫 '2012'，是关于世界末日的那一天。
在电影院看戏的气氛真的很不一样，比在家里看的真实多了。
‘2012’ 做了大约两个小时后便结束了……
好刺激，好好看哦！
不知道会不会真的有这么一天，哈哈！
总而言之，现在我们能做的是尽量保护我们独一无二的地球。

同学的生日

今天是嘉君的生日，Priscilla 还亲手为她做生日蛋糕呢！
休息节时，大家都聚在食堂，Priscilla 把蛋糕摆在桌上，大家开始唱生日歌。（虽然我为了彩壁画，迟到了一些，不过还来得及听完大家唱最后一句，然后和大家一起拍手，祝嘉君生日快乐，呵呵！）
之后，切蛋糕仪式正式开始！Priscilla 把蛋糕切成一小块、一小块，然后分给大家吃。我们有口福咯！哈哈！
Pricilla 特别精心制作的蛋糕真是太美味了！是巧克力和薄荷(mint)口味，yum yum!

烹饪记

今天轮到我们的班到烹饪室(Bilik Masakan)去学一些厨艺啦！
到学校时，钟声一响，慧妮便问A组到Bilik Masakan的时间，
“咦？对了！A组必须在什么时候到Bilik Masakan去啊？”
“现在啦！” 素晶答道。
“啊？现在?!” 慧妮惊讶的地喊道。
在她旁边的素晶听见慧妮那令人震耳欲聋的声音，都被吓了一大跳，说：“Ah bo?!” 慧妮紧张地说：“但是……但是，我得去'suka deka'的游戏嘞~”
“你跟老师说一声不就行了咯？”
其实，素晶也有去参与那项活动。

听了他们俩的对话后，我想……
若是如慧妮所说的，她不能到Bilik Masakan，那也就成为了我与睿珊的问题了，因为我们是同组的嘛。

不过，船到桥头自然直。到了烹饪室，因为那些有参与'suka deka'游戏的人出去了而缺人，老师便叫多几位B组的同学到烹饪室去。来到烹饪室的有包括楚婷和凯晴。我和睿珊很高兴地邀请楚婷来参与我们。我们把东西放到自己的组别后，便到老师，Miss Lim那儿听指示。

老师先叫我们做muffin的方法：
1）把面粉、brown sugar、chocolate chip合起来搅拌。
2）把鸡蛋、牛奶、油倒入另一个碗内，然后搅拌。
3）全部参起来再加一点儿糖，搅拌至均匀。
4）接着，把混合物倒入一个一个的模型。
5）最后，把它放入微波炉。
6）出炉后，令人垂涎三尺的muffin 就大功告成啦！

接下来，老师便教我们制作sandwich的馅料。做法非常简单！先将鸡蛋、萝卜和芝士(cheese)切成一小片、一小片的，然后混合起来，接着便将它涂在两片所自备的面包上，合起面包后，美味的sandwich便做好了！

PMR后的活动……

考过PMR后，校方为我们这些无所事事的‘空闲人’计划了好多活动，包括讲座会、校外一日游(到北海的Hacks Sweet制造工厂&飞禽公园)，也有烹饪课程 (学做muffin & sandwich)。想起来，校方还真为我们这些刚考完PMR的考生着想嘛！好感动~

这几天讲座会在礼堂进行的当儿，Puan Ting (我的英文老师) 希望我们能够帮校方画壁画。帮忙老师负责‘Tradisional Food’ 的有Samantha、嘉慧、郑嘉芸、佩薇、凯晴 & 我。负责食堂的墙的‘Food Piramid’ 则是敏翎、宜霖、丽珊、可妮、甜虹、美韵 & Eloise。有的同学，包括奕霖、哲杏、思余 & Seok Yee 被吩咐到美术室去帮 Puan Tan (我的美术老师) 为Form 5的毕业生做毕业典礼筹备工作 (呜~要与中五的朋友分离了……)。

嗯……我觉得，为校服务会比听讲座会来得重要吧！相信与我一起帮忙老师的同学们也这么想，对不对？

学长，该当？不该当？怎么办 !?

上级学长们之前访问我们班的学生包括我，看我们是否有兴趣当学长。
从同学们 ‘吐出’ 的理由不是没兴趣，就是担忧读书的时间安排得不妥当。
我不知道我是否做错了决定，因为我对访问我的学长说：“我……我就试一试吧……”

过后，我问一问看朋友们的意见，有的说……
“好哇！取经验一下也不赖嘛！”
“我是怕……万一你当上了学长，而变了呢？”
“咦？你有机会当学长？！好啊！好啊！我想都没呢~"
"学长经常被别人嘲笑为 ‘狗’ 哦！你可要仔细想一想……”

怎么办？
请大家给我一点意见好吗？
